Hi All,
I want to thank everyone for their patience I know you are all wondering just what I have been doing about the festival. I have been communicating with Greg Tuck. This afternoon we had a very productive meeting about our needs as well as the needs of his organization. His price increases were ordered by his colonel in New York; however, we have come to some accord with regard to him softening the price increases, as well as putting together more activities for us which will include a tenting area for those of us who desire camping out. I let him that we lost money on our last festival and we can’t do that any more. I incentivized him to help us make a profit by telling him we would be willing to donate half of whatever profit we make to the Salvation Army. Greg suggested he would make available the Village Commons as well as the Hilltop Commons for accommodations for our members. He also suggested we might want to consider the Family Cabins. Greg suggested he could offer us a high class food service at a cheaper price than we have been accustomed to paying, and has invited me and Liz Pagan to sample his food service at a time convenient for us. He also offered his facilities as a venue for special concerts as a way to get more of his people involved in our organization and as a way for both organizations to help each other make some money to further our goals, so the Salvation Army and the Folk Project can become closer as non profit entities. He also wants to send his conference groups to the Minstrel as a part of weekend activities for the folks staying at his Camp.
So now that we are somewhat warm and fuzzy, we are ready to establish dates. We have a date for a possible May Festival on the weekend of May 13th. I would ask Mike to consider asking Dave Mallett to do his Friday show at our festival instead of the Minstrel and ask if he might be available to do workshops on Saturday, and how much he would want for that. For the fall festival we have two proposed dates: The Weekend of September 30th and the Weekend of October 7th. I lean towards the end of September over the first week of October, but that’s just me. I plan to finalize our dates and accommodation options next week. I seek the advice of the board on the dates I have proposed.
I'll see you all this evening at the meeting.
