After a fairly lackluster Minstrel performance for June, I was surprised to see that our numbers had actually improved over last year. That only shows that June -09 was worse than June -10. We averaged 80 paid for regular shows in June; 67.3 if you add in the Open Stage. Still, those numbers are a respectable 94.4 and 82.8 respectively over the past 12 months, boosted by a couple of great shows in January and February. We came out $164 in the black for June, and $1405 YTD. June '10's numbers were boosted by a wonderful and well attended show by Mark Schaffer. I'm expecting August to be similarly lackluster, and have things pick up in September.
We've prepared our 2nd quarter report for ASCAP. We owe them $48.27, or $3.71 per show. I think we can handle that.
Acts booked over the past month:
Mad Agnes for January 7. This harmony-oriented songwriting trio will be disbanding after this, so this will be their final appearance for us.
Elixir for April 29: This will be a joint booking with Swingin Tern the next night, and sponsored in part by Ed Roffman who met his wife Robin at SnT. They are unusual for a contra dance band, in that they come with a horn section, so they do swing music as well. In lieu of an opening act that night, Elixir will do a Introduction to Contra Dancing session in the Terrace Room.
Upcoming highlights:
Jack Williams on July 16 is really terriffic. A lot of people unaware of him have missed him in the past, and I would urge all of you to check him out.
And of course, the Birthday Show on July 30.
