EVENT HOSTING REPORT
I’m happy to report that the Monday Stayaway Zoom Song Circle is doing just fine. We haven’t missed a week since we began, and our attendance ranges between 14 and 20 participants, from literally all over the country. We hit a high point on October 26, when world-class guitarist Peppino D’Agostino dropped in and blew us away.
But, every circle has its own character, and each is special in its own way. We’ve become a remarkably cohesive and supportive group with plenty of banter and appreciation between songs. One particularly gratifying result of the circle is the number of people who have become friends who would never have met each other otherwise. Although the numbers that we have are just about right, participation by more Board members would be very welcome.
Also, Mark and I are discussing bringing the Getaway “Old Folkies Telling Jokies” workshop to the Stayaway, perhaps on a Wednesday night early next year. The Zoom format sems well-suited to joke-telling, and I’m sure that many of us could use a few good laughs right about now. I’ll keep you posted.
