Subject: HSNOI Report
In January we taped 2 very enjoyable shows:
685) Tues Jan 22,2019 7:00 PM Between Hope & The Highway - the collaboration of singer-songwriters Regina Goldy and Tim Coyle. The northwest New Jersey-based duo has been performing together since 2016. Their repertoire incorporates each writer’s original music, and adaptations of favorite songs from their childhood roots to modern pop. The original music they are creating together combines melodies that sneak inside your brain, with richly textured instrumental and vocal harmonies that carry you from the front porch to the beach to the symphony hall. www.betweenhopeandthehighway.com

Sandie's report:
This past month we installed three new chairs, removed a loaner board and installed a high-quality older analog system. We returned a borrowed snake and installed a new One and reconfigured the cables for all the cameras, labeled and secured them for ease-of-use. We purchased and installed a truss bar and clamps to which we will affix our studio lighting cans. We bought and installed studio audio monitors and a video monitor for the countdown so you can see it in the studio.
In our only and not so pretty bathroom we replaced burned out lightbulbs and replaced the nasty toilet seat. As it also serves as our green room, we are trying to make it as inviting and scuz free as possible. In the kitchen We've cleaned the cabinets of general crud, dead bugs and sticky stuff which turned out to be entire cans of coke which leaked out of the cans and turned to the consistency of drying black varnish inside the cabinets. We washed the dishes that came with the studio and took out many pounds of trash. Amounting to about 30 hours of work over three weeks. Not including regular taping time.
687) Mon Feb 4 6:45 PM Mike Oregano - truly a unique act, both the aesthetic and sonic details of the "One Man Band" concept, performing in a Reggae/Hip Hop/Jazz style, he uses his feet to hit the drums as well as an array of fully intuitive pedal boards complete with: loopers, bass splits, synthesizer sounds, etc. He records the rhythm section (guitar and bass) on the spot, and layers over it with drums, solos, fills, etc. all while singing, rapping, or talk boxing, and soloing on his guitar simultaneously..http://mikeoregano.com/
Mike is coming back because we seem to have lost the file containing his show and also his first number at his first taping contained a copyrighted sample from a popular artist and Mike didn't think he could get gratis permission to use it.
We are seeking a sub. Susan had to postpone due to a broken arm.
688) Mon Feb 4, 2019 8:00 PM Susan Horowitz - singer-songwriter from the rocky coast of Maine. Sue has traveled all over North America to share her music and teach at congregations, homes, concert venues and conferences. Her music has been included in numerous publications and is used in worship in many communities. Sue's 3 Jewish CDs have their roots in liturgy, values, and Torah; Her recent folk CD draws influence from the singer-songwriter and American folk traditions. partnership with EJ Cohen, considered the premier ASL interpreter of Jewish music. http://www.suehorowitz.com
689) Sat. March 9, 2019 1:30 PM The Last Whippoorwill Bluegrass Band -20 years ago, 5 guys got together to form a Thursday night club, for something close to their hearts. The idea was to play the old tunes, the classic and traditional bluegrass music of Monroe, Flatt and Scruggs, and the Stanley Brothers...tunes that many "bluegrass musicians" seem to have forgotten, the name spun out from the title of Bill Monroe's "The First Whippoorwill". The band has discovered that many folks truly appreciate the old tunes, and for many young listeners, the classic sound is a whole new www.highlonesomebluegrass.com
690) Sat. March 9, 2019 3:00 PM Don Slepian - Electronic Classical Keyboardist, Born into a scientific family, music technologist Don Slepian showed both musical & technical talent early in life. He was Synthesizer Soloist with the Honolulu Symphony and Musical Director of the Honolulu Theater For Youth. He has been presented by WNYC’s “New Sounds”in NYC’s Lincoln Center and performed at the Pompidou Center in Paris. He currently webcasts from his studio in the Pocono Mtns, PA;“… one of the genre’s major talents…” Rolling Stone magazine www.donslepian.com
691 & 692) Thurs April 18, 7:00 PM Del Rey - started playing guitar when she was four years old. At thirteen, she was immersed in the world of folk music, via the San Diego Folk Festival. She has tried to get a whole band onto her solo instrument from the beginning. This gives her music an interesting complexity, especially when applied to the ukulele.Rags, blues and tunes of the early 20th century are her specialty, even as she writes new music to add to the tradition; also has fashion sense that would make Minnie Pearl smile. https://delreyplays.com/
