June 2018 Getaway Report to Board

Spring Getaway was exciting, smooth-running, and successful.

    • We sold out as usual. The survey numbers were excellent and the

    • The jam tent was gone last time, so we complained and the camp purchased a new one. It is an effective community hub and it was good to have it back.

    • We dropped the wait list. Instead, we predicted the number of dropouts and overbooked by that amount. This new approach solved more problems than expected and is now a permanent procedure.

    • Due to the large number of commuters, post-concert attendance is less. We adjusted the schedule to keep the energy up. It is one of many reasons we continue to search for an appropriate site with adult accommodations. Suggestions are welcomed.

    • Fall Getaway had a late-night attendance imbalance caused by the excessive popularity of the Late Night Open Stage. This time the schedule was adjusted, and activities were well and more evenly attended.

    • Diane Polledri, an active member, volunteer and musician, has joined the committee. Pat, Elizabeth, Robin and I are very happy to welcome this talented, effective and personable member to steering committee.

    • Due to innumerable factors within and beyond our control, Fall Getaway is about $2,600 to $3,100 in the black.

    • Getaway Recording Day is Saturday 7/21/18 and Sunday 7/22/18. We have 20 applicants at this time. Twelve will be chosen after the June OpenStage. CDs will be sold at OpenStages, Getaways and some other events sometimes.

    • We are brainstorming more Getaway Day opportunities. They’ve been extremely effective community builders and lots of fun.
