The Nomination Committee of the Folk Project to recommend members of the Board of Directors for the year 2008 consisted of Evelyn Maurer (chair), Jean Scully, and Brad Pryor who were joined unofficially by out-going president Barbara Moo. We met on October 17, 2007.
Our charge was to recommend a slate of Trustees to fill the outgoing positions of Trustees Jim King, Evelyn Maurer, and Barbara Moo, whose 3-year terms expire at the end of this year. Last year’s committee set a goal to offer at least one trusteeship to someone not currently on the Board. This recommendation is intended to ensure a steady supply of new blood on the Board. It will also encourage outgoing Trustees who wish to stay on the Board to take on an office or Committee Chairmanship. This year we have exceeded this goal by attracting 4 new people to the board
Our secondary task was to make unofficial recommendations as to the rest of the makeup of the 2008 Board, suggesting likely officers and Committee Chairs.
The following table summarizes the Committee’s recommendations.
Ken Galipeau, current festival chair, has expressed his intent to step down following the Spring 2008 festival. The nominations committee recommends that Lori Falco join the festival committee immediately as co-chair with Ken. As co-chairs Lori and Ken will have separate responsibilities: Ken will handle all matters dealing with the Spring 2008 festival and Lori will handle everything relating to festivals following the Spring 2008 festival.
Respectfully Submitted,
Evelyn Maurer
Nominations Committee Chairman
