Subject: The Wiki and the Tech Committee
Greetings, all -
As discussed last night, sometime later today, I will invite you all to become editors of the wiki. I see that none of these addresses on George's list are Gmail accounts, but if you have one, send that to me. Google sites is designed to work with Gmail, and it's a little simpler. It may still be fully functional for you without one, but I'd recommend using a Gmail login if you have it.
What I think happens next is that you'll get an email letting you know I have issued this invitation. It will include a link to a sign in page, where you may be asked to create a password. Then on future visits, you'll be able to sign in to the wiki in the footer, as shown by the red circle in the attached document (Screen Shot 1). Note that after signing in, you'll have some additional buttons on the upper right, for editing the current page, adding additional pages, etc.
You will also want to Subscribe to page changes, as shown in Screen Shot 2. I don't know exactly how that works, and am not sure whether subscribing to the Tech Committee page will also subscribe you to its sub-pages. I'm subscribed at the site level, which you can certainly do, but it means you'll get dozens of email messages when Rachel is working on the minutes each month. Then, any time one of us posts something, you'll get an email with a link to the post, which will be color-coded to highlight what's changed.
Below the committee page there are three sub-pages, for Operations, Resources and Working Papers. My categories, and admittedly somewhat arbitrary. Beneath each of those pages is another level called Operations Posts, Resources Posts and Working Paper Posts (Screen Shot 3). That's the level where you'll want to add stuff, by clicking on New Post (Screen Shot 4). (I see there's also an RSS subscription gadget here, but I don't really use RSS so you're on your own with that.)
If you have questions, let me know. Also let me know if you have a Gmail account you want to use. I can easily delete the access offered through these addresses and add another one for Gmail.
Regards,
Chris
