Minstrel Staffing Report
for the month of February, 2015
Staffing efforts for the Minstrel are ongoing and evolving. Right now
my main push is to really institute the kitchen upgrade we started in
February, and see if we can lighten Amy’s load in finding weekly Minstrel kitchen volunteers. We’ve had some solid early success with
this effort, but we still need to make the changes “part of the culture”
so they’re self supporting.
I’m planning on a Head Staff/Door volunteer meeting in April. Mark
Schaffer has agreed to host. The focus will be on bringing consistency
and common practice to these two jobs, and groom more people to fill
the positions. Look for more news soon.
I’ve begun working with Mike Agranoff on making some of the Head
Staff tools more user friendly. Our first big goal is revamping the
Tally sheet and the serpentine end of the evening accounting
process. This would go a loooong way in making the Head Staff job
more appealing to the masses. Or maybe just to three or four new
people? Anybody?
I am also looking for a solid investment from six upstanding Folk
Project citizens to commit to volunteer for the Head Staff job once
every six weeks, and end another of Amy’s weekly pleadings for
bodies to fill those positions. Anyone reading this who might be
saying to themselves “hey, that could me ME!” please see me ASAP
before you change your mind.
It has yet to be decided if the Folk Project will be having a
Volunteer Appreciation event sometime this year. One would hope, but circumstances may conspire against us - we shall see. We’re in a cost conscious environment these days, and rightfully so, but this is
an “infrastructure” investment that’s truly needed. Stay tuned, stay
engaged, stay energized…
Respectfully,
Barrett
