Webmaster Report – John Lamb
Development continues on moving the Minstrel-Gram to Constant Contact. We now are working on a hybrid approach that involves using one of our web pages to provide input to one of their templates. Early results look promising. The web team has also responded to some issues concerning the fullboard@folkproject.org email forwarder. A list of the recipients of that forwarder will be provided upon request to any board member or committee chair. Procedure since I inherited the list from the prior webmaster has been to keep board members on that list, even after their term has expired, unless they ask to be removed from it. As always, thanks go to Lori Falco and Allan Kugel for their contributions, and comments, questions and suggestions sent to webmaster@folkproject.org are welcomed.
Facebook Report - Pam Robinson
In less than 24 hours the Minstrel Birthday Show pictures have been seen by 800 unique individuals. Woo Hoo! A picture is worth a thousand words.
Publicity Chairman Report – Nancy Kelner
The publicity committee continued to spread the word about Folk Project activities. We have had some events listed in print and online: July Minstrel schedule in 7/11 Suburban News; July 10 Minstrel in July 4 Independent Press; July 7 Swingin’ Tern in July 4 Independent Press; NY Times event listing listed June 29 Minstrel; both August Swingin’ Terns in 7/25 issue of Suburban News; August Minstrel schedule in Bucks County Folk Song Society August newsletter; both August Swingin’ Terns in Suburban News 8/1; 8/31 Minstrel in August Princeton On Line monthly email; 7/28 NY Times event listing listed Minstrel birthday show; both August Swingin’ Terns in Cranford Chronicle 8/4.
After years of sending press releases to the NY Times, I finally saw a few of our events in their online events listing, along with the proper email address to use. So I sent the next batch of info to that address and got an auto reply with lots of instructions about the SPECIFIC FORMAT they want. So now we will send a press release to one email address and the events listing info (in their SPECIFIC FORMAT) to another email address.
Our contact at NJ Family made a caller name change for the July 21 Swingin’ Tern dance; sent her a thank-you email.
Got a wonderful cable tv flyer from Sandie Reilly for the first time; it went out with the August info in mid-July.
Some Folk Project members performed at the Morris County 4H Fair in Chester on July 20 - NJ Minstrels (Carol Larson, Perry Hamburg) and the Fabulous Furry Harmonica Brothers (Ralph Litwin, Al Podber).
Jennifer Nelson of Daily Record emailed us; she wanted to do a story about the birthday show. Link is: http://www.dailyrecord.com/article/20120802/NJENT/308020036/1082/Minstrel-marks-an-anniversary-with-a-special-concert.
Emailed a few events to our contact at NJ Monthly for consideration for their print issues (Minstrel 9/7, special concert 12/28; fall festival, Tern Swings 9/29). Will let you know if any of them gets printed.
Sent radio station list to April Verch’s promoter 7/27 at her request.
Morristown Green continues to give us good coverage on its website.
