Subject: Community Service - December 2019
Hi, Everyone,
On 11/29/19, long-time FP Member (and also long-time MUF Member, and my friend), Joan Clifford passed away. She is survived by 3 sons and their wives, and many grandchildren. A card will be sent to her son & daughter-in-law, Michael & Sue, who were very involved in helping Joan over the past several years.
Thanks,
Evelyn Maurer

Subject: Community Service - Cards - Annual Report December 3, 2019
Hi, Everyone,
The Folk Project, as an organization, is really very special and unique, compared to most other organizations. We are very much a Community, always trying to make Newcomers feel welcome and included, and generally very supportive of one another - many of us consider the Folk Project a second Family. Community Service plays an important role in supplementing and reinforcing this ongoing atmosphere of caring and support that all of our Members contribute to and share with one another.
Community Service basically performs 2 functions: sending cards to Members for both happy occasions and difficult ones, and also facilitating a connection between our many talented Members (musicians, storytellers, and dancers) and outside community organizations seeking performers for various events.
For the past 9.5 years, Pat Brangs has been fulfilling both of these roles on our behalf, mostly very quietly and behind the scenes.
This past July, as Pat moved out of the area, Mitch Radler and I stepped up to fill Pat's vacated post - 2 people doing what Pat had done, single-handedly, for almost 10 years In addition to Community Service, Pat is a very hard-working member of the Getaway Committee and also works on the Publicity Committee. I would like for all of us to give Pat a big round of applause, (which she will hopefully hear in South Seaside Park), with our appreciation and Thanks.
Sadly, during the past year, since December 2018 through today. the Folk Project has lost 11 Members and former Members.
On a happy note, one of our long-time Members was married!
One of our newer Members, who sadly died very suddenly and unexpectedly, was so enthusiastic about the Folk Project, that his Family suggested Donations be made in his name and honor. Many donations have been received in his remembrance. Mark Schaffer has been talking with his widow, about using the funds to have a future special concert, in remembrance of him.
We've had some differing opinions about when and how to share news of our Members and Loved Ones passing with the general Membership, through the Newsletter. This month, we initiated a new section, "In Memorium", in which to do this, when necessary.
Lets all keep encouraging and supporting each other, as we've always been doing!
Thank you,
Evelyn Maurer
