Archives Committee Report - October 2021
Some Bad News
Unfortunately, the Special Collections and University Archives (SCUA) at Rutgers, where our collection is stored, was closed on October 1 due to flood recovery from Hurricane Ida. The reading room is closed and the collections will be inaccessible "for at least a year" (as of an Oct. 1 post on their webpage). No collections were destroyed but there was extensive damage to the storage areas. https://www.libraries.rutgers.edu/new-brunswick/visit-study/locations/special-collections-university-archives
What this means is that Archives Committee donations, which were already on hold due to SCUA's Covid 19 restrictions, are now on hold for another year. Items that were already donated to the Committee are currently living at my house, which has limited space. We want to continue to collect items for our collection, however, we'll need to rethink how to store them.
Past FP Officers and Trustees
I'm still compiling the list and I STILL NEED YOUR HELP. There's a gap between the years of 1986 through 2000. Do you have newsletters from those years? If so, please contact me so I can copy the needed info.
Thank you!
