Prez Report 15.12
I. Folk Project Calendar Key Dates
A. Tuesday, Dec. 1 - Workman’s Comp. Insurance Premiums due
B. Friday Dec. 4 - Recruit Producer for Summer Songs Membership Concert - Elizabeth
C. Tuesday, Dec. 15, Newsletter submission deadline - George Otto
II. The month of November was relatively calm.
A. We had three Minstrel shows, mostly well attended, and one Special Concert, with minor losses due to under attendance.
B. I continue working with our incoming Volunteer Chairperson Deborah Graham, bringing her up to speed on current Volunteer issues and practices. As stated previously, I’m looking forward to being a Volunteer Indian to her Volunteer Chief. I’m also looking forward to my new Volunteer assignment as Master of the Pantry, whereby I will be doing monthly cleaning, inventory and replenishment of all Minstrel supplies, relieving Deborah of that drudgery, and freeing her to work magic with our Volunteers. I ask all Board members to give her our full support and cooperation in her new job.
C. I’ve authorized Lindsey Meyer to purchase a digital recorder to aid her in her new job as incoming Secretary. The recorder can then be passed on to successive Secretaries in the future. These recorded meeting records will be kept for a period of time for reference and clarification should the need arise.
III. Looking Ahead
A. We have a Special Concert coming up this December - our Holiday Concert produced by our new Special Concerts chair Pam Robinson. This years Holiday Concert proceeds will go to benefit our tenant MUF. Our Holiday Concert beneficiary next year will be decided at that time.
B. We are close to the end of 2015, and to the end of my first year as your President. We’ve had an “active” year to say the least, and I’m looking forward to another active year coming up. This is a good time for all of us to look at the year coming and re-dedicate our selves to being as effective, positive, and generous as we can be, both in our daily lives, and also in our various jobs with the Folk Project. We truly are New Jersey’s premiere Folk Arts organization, and should all feel proud as punch (holiday metaphor) for what we each contribute to that reality.
Best to us all, and Happy Holidays!
Respectfully,
Barrett Wilson
