Subject: Swingin' Tern June report
The Swingin' Tern Report for July 7:
On June 6 Swingin' Tern hosted Ken Gall calling to Smash the Windows. Ken did an excellent job with the many beginners, several of whom have returned to the next two dances. The dancers also enjoyed the band, which was put together less than two days before the dance. The originally scheduled band had to withdraw because of an injured musician.
Financially there was a small loss on the dance because of two other one-time dances that drew from Swingin' Tern. Still, promotionally it was the most successful non-special dance so far this year.
On June 20 Sue Dupré called to Wes & Friends. The caller and band are locally popular, and because of them we drew a larger-than-average crowd--including some new dancers who returned from the previous dance. Dances featuring four-person bands are more expensive for Swingin' Tern, and financially the dance net was $0.
For the month, Swingin' Tern lost $43.
Many dancers are often contributing above the admission fee. This has allowed us to be financially in the plus without raising prices.
We are planning for the next committee meeting and will inform the FP board of the most important actions taken.
