The votes are in, and even though...
1) My own personal opinion is that we have enough trouble getting volunteers for certain positions, I'm not sure ticks are that much of an incentive to gain volunteer help, and
2) No other aspect of the Folk Project gives ticks for future events (second time passes, but not ticks for volunteers),
My efforts to reduce the number of free bodies attending the Minstrel was completely and undeniably unsuccessful. I heard everything from that's a terrible idea, or no one will volunteer, to there will be blood on the moon if you take the ticks away.
The efforts to give ticks only for positions that always miss part of the show were equally unsuccessful. The main position that would be affected would be Bakers, and they reminded me that they spend time at home that intrudes on family time, they don't get reimbursed for their expenses, and all in all it's just plain "not fair" even though the main idea for giving ticks is to reward people who miss part of the show...and they do not.
All in all, I don't want blood on the moon, so nothing in either of these categories will change in the foreseeable future.

On the matter of the Volunteer Appreciation Event, I have checked out several locations:
Hedden County Park
Schooley's Mt. County Park,
VFW Hall in Warren.
I am planning to call the Elk's Club location in Warren tomorrow (Monday), and I will report at the Board meeting if there is any new information. I have to tell you the last couple of weeks were so miserably hot, it was hard for me to even think about an outdoor picnic in August. Between humid heat and the possibility of summer showers, I wouldn't even want to attend myself if it was that hot the day of the picnic. The air conditioned VFW Hall is still available for all the weekend days in October (although we most probably would not need the air conditioning in October). I'm thinking either the 1st, 3rd or 4th weekend in October. From what I hear, the Elk's Club has the possibility of a hall as well as a pavilion which might allow us to choose either depending on the weather the day of the event. I will let you know as soon as more information is available and hopefully, I will be making a decision on the location within a week or so.
