Newsletter Committee Report 2014-05
Things are proceeding apace with the usual great help from Pat Brangs, Nancy Kelner, Bill Henderson, and Eddie Roffman.
This month two newsletters were accidentally sent out without postage being applied. They were returned to my address, whereupon I applied the needed stamps and sent the on their way. I also got a newsletter that could not be forwarded, and alerted Eddie about a membership that appears to have moved. What I found odd was that the return address on the newsletters is Box 41, Mendham, NJ, while my address is buried farther down in the masthead, yet the mail was sent to me. I checked with Eddie to see if the PO Box for the Folk Project was still active, and he assured me that it was, so I don't know why the mail was returned to my address. I am going to make the PO Box more prominent to avoid this in the future.
Also, both the phone number and the directions to the Home-Made Music Party published in May were somehow incorrect. Dave Sherman sent out an electronic update before the event correcting this information, but the text printed in the newsletter was what was submitted for publication.
I have continued to take online courses to better learn the complex and powerful InDesign program that is used to prepare the newsletter. The time needed to edit the newsletter is gradually being reduced from three days to two as I discover more powerful tools in the program. What Liz could do in one day is still beyond me. Many thanks to everyone for sending me their monthly submissions on time.
