John Eisler, Cablevision Public Access Coordinator for many years, resigned last week. His boss, Cecilia Cardena, is coming to our taping on Tues. night 2/3 "to get to know us better." Also, a freelancer named Rebecca will be there to assist with any technical problems. Cecilia volunteered that we will still be able to store our scenery in the studio, a potential point of contention since their guidelines don't normally allow it. She also said that a freelancer will be there to help us until they find a replacement for John. She laid down a strict "out before 10:00 PM" policy... something John has been letting us slide on.
We taped two fine shows in January:
612) 1/6/15 Jay Johnston w/Vern Warta - born and raised in Memphis, TN, where he learned to love blues and old country songs. Jay is a singer/songwriter who plays guitar and harmonica. He appears in New York City and throughout New Jersey, playing solo gigs, duets w/guitar player extraordinaire, Vern Warta, or with his band, The Honky-Tonk Scoundrels. He has performed numerous times on The Heartland’s Hayride live radio show, Melanie Thiel's Morning Cup of Coffee, Homegrown Radio's First Friday series, and Princeton's Cafe Improv. https://www.facebook.com/magnoliamanjay
613) 1/6/15 Gathering Time – (Hillary Foxsong, Stuart Markus & Gerry McKeveny)"... has perfected two separate but related art forms: three part harmony and having a ball on stage! When they harmonize, some sort of fundamental, cosmic concordance occurs that makes you very happy that you have ears.” Bob McKillop, MaineFolkMusic.com http://www.gathering-time.com
Upcoming:
614) 2/3/15 6:45 The A.L.L. Trio – Mike Alexander (vocals, mandolin), Evan Lane (vocals, guitar) and Pete Lister (vocals, upright bass) met at County College of Morris in 2003 and have been playing together ever since; they write folk-inspired jazz rock originals and also perform classical, country, blues , bluegrass, jam, progressive and ethnic.
615) 2/3/15 8:00 Brad Cole - his songs address the ups and downs of the human condition with both wit and raw insight. "Some performers seem born to command a stage...That's how it is with Brad Cole… Honing in on those uneasy truths most of us evade" Acoustic Live Magazine www.bradcolemusic.com
616) 3/12/15 6:45 M.S.G. Acoustic Blues Trio – Jackie Merrit (harmonica), Miles Spicer (guitar) & Resa Gibbs (vocals & percussion) can raise the roof with some old-fashioned house party tunes, make you laugh with their witty originals and then make you weep with blues ballads http://www.acousticbluesmsg.com
617) 3/12/15 8:00 The Zuni Mountain Boys - From the foothills of the Zuni Mountains. Brooklyn based Americana duo, bringing the sounds of the desert to New York City. http://thezunimountainboys.bandcamp.com
618) 4/30/15 Robinson Treacher - Chameleon-like in his approach to his songwriting, he refuses to be pigeonholed into one particular genre, believing that each song is forged from its own unique terrain; Admittedly susceptible to the affectations of the senses himself, he asks his audience to participate emotionally as well as physically in a “whole self” conceptual challenge, a 360 degree soul search comprised of the most joyous elation to the bitterest of pains. http://robinsontreacher.com
619) 4/30/15 Amanda Duncan - draws from a diverse blend of the crooning hits of the 30′s and 40′s and the pop-country of today, to craft what has become her light-hearted, head-bopping acoustic sound. 180 degrees from the winey, suicidal droning of many singer-songwriters, in a black and white world, Amanda Duncan is a burst of color; www.AmandaDuncan.com
