Sound Reinforcement Committee Report – Sept. 2021
We successfully provided sound reinforcement for the opening of the Troubadour on Sept. 3, 2021. This involved providing two separate independent mixes one for the audience, and the other for the video feed. This was performed with Larry Flannagan mixing for the house and John Mahon mixing for the video. This is the first time we used two sound engineers for two mixes.
Using the instruction supplied by Kathie Caccavale we were able to connect to the Facebook page of the Folk Project and broadcast the live performance to the Facebook audience that the Folk Project has collected. The connection and broadcast went without a hitch.
MUUF is in the midst of implementing a significant change to the video system in the main hall. The plan to replace the current video equipment with 3 wall mounted remote control video cameras all operated by a new video switcher mixer. Part of this renovation is to redesign the mixing desk to seat, side by side, an audio mixer and a video operator. Both will be facing toward the stage. This will greatly improve the dynamics for the techs. This will be located in the same “corner” where the current audio board is located. The audio will continue to use the same equipment. This renovation will remove a net 4 seats from our current seating capacity. The work is planned to be done sometime in September. They plan to complete it during one 5 weekday period so as not to interrupt the FP show or their Sunday services.
We are still working out the fine points of who does what on which sound equipment for the room and video sound. These is contingent on the final form of this new installation.
