The Swingin' Tern Committee Report for June 4:
Two good dances in May. Overall there was a financial net loss of $20 for the month.
On May 4 many beginners came to the dance and heard a caller who had a light-hearted and fun attitude. Perfect for a first conta experience. It was Diane Hartzell's first time calling time at Swingin' Tern, and she promised to be back. Diane also arranged asked Fingerpyx to be the band--a good combination.
David Rupp and Oy Diddle Diddle were enjoyed by a smaller crowd on May 18. The band is a big draw and the caller was good, but competition from other dances often dampens third-Saturday attendance.
For the next three months, Swingin' Tern will not hold special or big dances: the weather can be a challenge and some other dances suspend or reduce activity in July and August, so just having dances is a draw.
After the summer, Suzanne has booked lots of good stuff that our dancers look forward to.
