Mark Schaffer reported that it was a hectic month that went from Uke Festival to setting up Getaway. A few days after Getaway he and Robin are heading out to New Zealand for two and a half weeks, during which they will be celebrating their 20th anniversary. He also was happy to report that he had a fabulous time welcoming Thomas back from the Navy. He recounted that 40 people turned out (20 people wanted to show and couldn't). He said "here's a young child that grew up from age 3 in the folk project that came back after 5 years in the service and with some such positive things to say about growing up in our culture, in our group, in our folk project, and so much respect and love was shown by us for him, but him for us."
Elizabeth Lachowicz had a fabulous time with her sister in Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard. She also enjoyed a visit to Indianapolis and the opportunity to see her nephew, his family and some family friends in Boston. She was sorry that she was not there to welcome her son Thomas home, but she put signs all over the house and was very grateful to have him home safely.
Sam Edelston reported that he is nearing the release of his first official recording, and has found particularly special joy in it because he got to work with two of his kids in their professional specialties: Teddy appears on two songs, singing and playing violin, and Ro-z lit the photo shoot for the cover art. His wife, Robin, is doing the cover design.
George Otto was in Maryland to celebrate his mother's 101st birthday.
