Welcome, all, to the annual wrap-up of the Sound Reinforcement committee.
Overall it's been a solid year with 48 Minstrels, Two festival / Getaway events, a Uke fest, a One-Day Nerfa event and two special concerts. We've added some new soundies to the ranks.
Most of all, the commitee members deserve a big round of thanks for staffing all of that and pulling it off successfully and under budget.
The future has some changes in store as we work with MUUF toward the installation of a permanently mounted sound system that may even include professional lighting. The system being considered is a well designed array of matched speakers that make our current system sound in comparison to a transister radio. The MUUF improvements may also include a new console. A couple of new mic stands are in the future to increase the overall collection. Next summer when The Minstrel moves to the Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township, while the 40th Anniversary Concert and the Uke Fest will also be at PCCT, the soundies will be using the digital sound system there belonging to The Sanctuary Concerts. If the talked-about special concerts use The Bickford Theater, that system is a Yahama LS9 operated by tablet. The committee will again show its flexibility in all of these environments.
The little gremlins in the current system should be worked out during the holiday lull in the Minstrel schedule, with miscellaneous cable and connector issues as various members have offered to help. The microphones thought to have been troublesome are back in service.
It's been a fun and busy 2014, and we can look forward to 2015 with confidence and excitement over the new potential changes.
