On January 2, Swingin' Tern celebrated our thirty-second anniversary. Folk Project all-star callers were accompanied by Last Exit, one of Swingin' Terns favorite local bands. ST's many volunteers were recognized. It was a good dance with subdued attendance, possibly because it was only two days after the New Year's Eve dance.
On January 16, ST hosted Ron Blechner calling to Smash the Windows. Ron has become a regular caller at Swingin' Tern and did an excellent job with the many beginning dancers. Also, Smash the Windows is an excellent band and was a great introduction, music-wise, for the new contra dancers.
For the month Swingin' Tern was financially positive by $85, excluding general overhead.
On February 6, on behalf of several dance organizations, Swingin' Tern is hosting a remembrance for Joel Remde. The remembrance will start at 4 PM and our normal contra dance will follow at 8 PM, with the usual workshop at 8 PM.
