A fairly lackluster month in June. Attendance for the month 85.1 for regular shows, 75.2 including the Open Stage. We lost $213.
I was offered the opportunity to book Dala, a young pop oriented duo of Canadian female songwriters on November 11, normally an Open Stage night.
There were no other open Fridays in November to move the Open Stage, and Open Stage has been cancelled or moved 3 times already this year. So, in consultation with Scooter, we decided to add a special Thursday night Open Stage on November 10.
The upcoming Birthday show got low, but not disastrous participation with 39 names in the hat, a little better than last year. Again, there was a disappointing lack of participation by some of our better member musicians, made up for by a number of first-time participants. I recruited some new participants by monitoring the signups for the Open Stage to see if they were FP members whom I did not recognize. If they were members, I encouraged them to participate in the Birthday Show, and several signed up.
New bookings since last month:
* September 2: a farewell concert by Dugan's Hooligans. No opener, but rather short solo sets by the Dugan kids.
* November 11: the aforementioned Dala. Opened recently at Sanctuary, and got very strong positive reaction.
* December 2: The Chorus Song Night has been booked with Amy Livingston, Mark Westphal, Mike Agranoff, and Jack Kilrain
* December 16: Fibonacci as the opener for the Accidentals. That's FP members Christine DeLeon, Andy Koenig, Kathie Hayne, and David Barkovich masquerading as a really really good bar band.
* February 17: Archie Fisher, legendary Scottish songwriter/guitarist.
Upcoming highlights in July:
* July 15: Shockenaw Mountain Boys, (acoustic Railroad Earth) with Scooter & Friends opening
* July 29: The Birthday Show
