EVENT HOSTING SUBCOMMITTEE- Jay Wilensky
Mostly all is very well with Event Hosting.
November 1 will see our 82nd consecutive Monday song circle, with no end in sight. Our attendance hovers between 15 and 25. October’s guest features included Tom Kimmel, David Roth and Joe Crookston; November 1 will be Banjo Nicaru and the Scooches, and November 9 will be Brooks Williams. Many of our regulars are referring to the circle as “family.”
Unfortunately, after consulting the powers that be, I canceled the planned virtual Halloween show. We had only five or six signups, and I sensed virtually no interest. I’m confident that if we can go live again next year, we’ll have our usual blast of a show.
Plans are under way for the annual holiday show to benefit MUF, to be held on December 17. I’m completely new to the event, so all volunteers and suggestions are welcome.
And, we held a moderately successful Afternoon of Music at Lewis Morris Park on October 9. About 15 people attended. Attendance was held down by blustery weather and unmarked detours in the park. However, we did have a lively song circle.
Finally, I’d like to address a quick note to the Board. A 16-person rehearsal that I’ve been organizing for several weeks nearly fell apart yesterday when the *vaccinated* spouse of a key band member contracted a breakthrough case of Covid, with symptoms. Friends, this ain’t over yet.

SPECIAL CONCERTS SUBCOMMITTEE - Mike Agranoff
The Deeper than the Skin concert was held on October 22. It was a brilliant and deeply moving event, that was, alas, woefully under-attended. There were only 31 paid (42 total) attendees at a $25 ticket. This is at the lower end of what we have been seeing at the Troubadour concerts since they resumed in September. We did get a number of attendees from my reach-out to MUUF. The concert netted a $56 profit, which included $110 in donations from the onsite audience, and a $1,600 donation from me. The performers were paid their guarantee of $2060.00, which included a $60.00 meal buyout.
