The Swingin Tern Committee Report for January 7:
What a month for Swingin' Tern--four excellent dances. Much planning and work by the volunteers pulled it off. First on December 7 was the popular regional band Party of Three and up-and-coming caller Ron Blechner. On December 13 nationally acclaimed Great Bear Trio and Sarah VanNorstrand performed at a dance celebrating the thirtieth anniversary of Alice Tempel and Leigh Walker, for an admission charge of $5. December 21 featured the long-time favorites Coracree and Donna Hunt before the spectacular annual holiday party at Doug and Brian's. To tope off the year, on New Year's Eve Will Mentor and Last Exit upheld the New Year's Eve tradition of exceptional performers.
Financially, Swingin' Tern was in the black by more than $500.
An illustration of December's success: Dancers from at least six states came to Swingin Tern's December dances.
