A short and mixed month. One very good show and one poorly attended show. We were closed for Festival one week and preempted by a Special Concert for another week. We averaged 76 paid, and lost $119 on the month. Our true loss for the month was actually greater for the reason detailed in the next paragraph.
Our meeting with MUF last month bore fruit. They agreed to roll back the rent from $319 per show to $280, retroactive to July 1. (As a result $468 overpayment from July and August and September rent was applied to our October rent. So had we been paying the lower rent all along, October would have looked worse than it does, but July, August, and September would have looked better than they did. It's not worth going through all the adjustments.) But the rent will go up again, probably to $319, as of July 2014. That will necessitate another admission price increase. But at least it was delayed so as not to come on the heels of the increase as of the beginning of 2013.
MUF also thanked us for our offer to mitigate the aesthetics of the acoustic panels, but decided to hold off on any action on the panels until further decisions are made with regards to the room. I was at the Fellowship this afternoon, doing some work on the sound system. I ran into Allison Miller (the Minister), who informed me that there is a small possibility that some cosmetic improvements may begin on the Meeting Room as early as this summer. That might entail replacement of the carpet and other such improvements. She promised she would consult with us on anything that might affect the ability of us to use the room and would coordinate schedules so as not to interfere with our concerts.
New bookings since last month:
· Feb. 28: Bob McNally to open for Li'l Rev.
· June 6: John Gorka (Finally! Been working on that one for 3 years.) Opening will be Nalani & Sarina, a pair of 20-year old twin singer-songwriters.
· Sept. 12: Finest Kind
