Newsletter Committee Annual Report 2019
As usual, I would like to thank my proofreaders during the year--Kathi Caccavale, Pat Brangs, Nancy Kelner, Liz Pagan, Bill Henderson, and Gary Pratt--who make the newsletter better by catching the errors I miss. Unfortunately, Nancy has moved out of the immediate area and will no longer be assisting us with her excellent proofreading skills going forward.
As of December 1, 2019, we had 328 active subscriptions, with 125 being delivered by paper mail and 251 being delivered by electronic notification There is an overlap of 50 that are delivered both ways and 2 who do not receive any newsletter at all (the SCEEC bookstore whose membership extends to the year 3000 and a member who just moved out of the area).
When the FP made the name change from the Minstrel Concert Series to the Troubadour, the name of the dance page in the newsletter was renamed for similar reasons from "Feets Don't Fail Me Now" to "Dance, Dance, Dance."
The topic of how to recognize those FP members who had passed away was discussed over many months. In the past, such notices were often included in the Good of the Order report, but there was some opposition to that placement. In the December newsletter, a new section was introduced called "In Memoriam" to report such events. Separate articles will also be considered when there are special memorial concerts or events which Folk Project members should be alerted to.
Sincerely,
George Otto
