Dear Board of Defectors (seeking asylum from real life),
Julie came home with a tweaked back so I will not be able to join you tonight. If need be, I can be reached by phone at 908-229-1214.
All is well in Special Concerts land! The Joni Mitchell Blue concert was a rousing success for everyone involved. The audience was thrilled, the Staff was happy and extremely enthusiastic, the Performers were ecstatic (we were able to pay them $300 more than the $1000 guarantee so that they each got $100), the Special Concerts Chair got a huge heaping helping of satisfaction and The Folk Project made a little over $400!
On October 30th, several FP members performed at FDU at the end of their annual WAMfest and had a wonderful time. We intend to expand and nurture an ongoing relationship with FDU as we move ever forward. FP performers were: Kathy Moser, Dave Kleiner, Tom Picard, Jean Scully, Ken Galipeau, Mark Schaffer and myself. A good time was had by all and we hope to do it again next year.
Next up is the Bryan Bowers house concert and the Ronstadt Generations workshop, both of which we expect to be revenue neutral.
I went to my first NERFA last weekend and had a wonderful, exhausting time! I saw a lot of great artists and made what I believe are some exciting, important connections and new friends. I have a whole bunch of ideas bouncing around in my head and have been sharing resources with Mark so that together we can make decisions that focus on the overall benefit of the Folk Project as an organization and community rather than any one venue or committee.
BTW, I should add that I have advance knowledge of the things that Mark will bring up for discussion tonight and he has my full support!
Call me with any questions,
Scooter
