Special Events Report to Board November 2020 Report to Board
Dear Board,
The Stayaway continues to operate successfully, as it has since March.
The Team continues to put out effective programming five days a week.
The Halloween Zoom Party had over 50 participants. Thanks to Gary and Todd for the effort. An hour of music was followed by a half hour of brief comments by all participants.
We will use a similar format and crew for the Folk Project Holiday Party on Friday, December 29th.
The Paxton/DonJuans concert generated $426.80 in profits, plus tremendous appreciation and acknowledgement for our support of the artist community during the pandemic.
A note about platforms:
You may recall we experimented by moving Stayaway concerts from broadcasting on the individual artist’s platforms to one consistent Folk Project Facebook Live platform. We hoped the consistency of one, singular platform every concert would benefit the audience. That experiment coincided with a dip in attendance, which we at first attributed to the FP singular platform. We no longer believe that’s true. We now believe the lower numbers are attributable to competition, each individual artist’s popularity, how often the particular artist broadcasts on line, the longevity our program, and magic. For these reasons we intend to use the Folk Project Facebook Live platform going forward whenever possible.
The committee is operating at a high level of efficiency, effectiveness and enjoyment. For that I am particularly grateful to: Gary, Kathy, Todd, Jay, Dave, Joe, John, Jean, and Robin.
Thank you.
Mark Schaffer, Chair
