Recent tapings include:
5/3/07 Jason Spooner Trio - really caught good attention at NERFA. Great writer, young, on the electric edge of folk; 2X Kerrville New Folk Finalist www.JasonSpooner.com
5/3/07 Peter James - sings eccentric songs of arcane experiences and dark characters. Johnny Walker and Philip Morris were his voice teachers
5/21/07 Christine DeLeon - Folk Project’s latest songbird with a brand new CD; one FP fan said, “She sounds like Joan Baez… only better.” http://www.christinedeleon.com/
5/21/07 Cyminology - German jazz group w/vocals by daughter of Iranian emigrants, keyboard, bass & percussion; intense musical color & mystical Persian lyrics www.Cyminology.de
Jason Spooner Trio & Cyminology were real stand-out shows in my mind, and Christine's music was very good, too. Peter James was a bit rough around the edges, but that's part of his charm & persona.
Chistine agreed to tape on 5/21 on short notice when Brad & Sybil played me a bit of her CD the night of the taping on 5/3. Sandie was going to be busy dealing with the technical requirements and special requests of Cyminology, so she preferred not to tape a show on that date.
I spoke at length with Tommy Sands' agent, Robin, & sent him a DVD of Jez Lowe & the Bad Pennies on HSNOI, because he's considering flying in Tommy's son & daughter just to perform on the show in the hope they could edit it into a promo... haven't heard back from him yet.
