January 2019 Acoustic Getaway Report to Board
The Spring Getaway Lineup will be announced January 15th. The lineup and program is looking very strong. Registration will open February 15th.
The Sunday afternoon concert will be another "Sunday Sundae,” our brand name for a bigger-name, Sunday-concert -only performer. When we first moved to Camp Bernie, we used the Sunday Sundae to bring in newcomers and add positive cash flow from Sunday-only guests. The move to Stony Point is the right time to do it again.
The Getaway Committee is running two events that will also help defray the increased cost of our improved accommodations. A Cliff Eberhardt/Betsy Rose house concert on Saturday, March 2, 2019, and a
Tom Paxton & The DonJuans Special Concert at the Minstrel on Friday, October 4, 2019.
Stony Point Center’s management and The Getaway Committee are working together and planning together in a most-productive and agreeable fashion. For example:
The move from Memorial Day made our traditional Getaway Extension problematic. We are planning a one-day pre-extention for members who would like to come a day early - tentatively called The Get-a-Day, but we’re looking for a better name. Guests tentatively would arrive Thursday evening, hang out or join a round robin Friday morning, and then attend a matinee at the Penguin Theatre - a two-minute walk from Stony Point Center. Gary Pratt and Diane Polledri are spearheading the Get-a-Day pre-extension (or whatever it’s called).
Despite the extra planning and changes the move to Stony entails, things are proceeding normally for this time of year.
