Subject: Community Service (incldg Performers Resource) - March 2020
Hi, Everyone,
I have agreed to take on Performers Resource as contact person for Requests. This month, we have received 2 requests:
(1) Society of Musical Arts Orchestra in Maplewood are giving a concert on June 7th and are in need of a banjo-player for a couple of numbers. They are assuming the parts are written for tenor or plectrum banjo as opposed to a 5-string. Pat Brangs and I have already contacted Ralph Litwin, Roger Dietz, Jeff Loy, "Tim" (orbit7er@gmail.com), and Walt Houck. So far, no replies that we know of.
**** Anyone have any other suggestions? ****
(2) Pat Brangs forwarded the following request from Ginny Fisher, of Memory Cafe:
"I have reached out to your members who have helped us in the past and I am struggling to fill some dates. I am enclosing dates which we are in need and hope that you can forward it on to your members: March 19th, July 16th, Aug 20th, Sept 17th, October 15th, Nov 12th, Dec 10.
We gather from 2-4PM in Morris Plains. Most attendees are in for a 2:30 start of the music program for 45 - 60 minutes. We are very low key and flexible.
Memory Café is an outreach program, in it’s 6th year of operation. It is a social opportunity for persons living with Alzheimer’s Disease and other mild to moderate cognitive impairments and their caregiver. We do not charge for them to attend. It is so beneficial for the Loved one to be out and about and to socialize and listening to music is a wonderful tool to jog their mind. Caregivers get time out of the home and can network with others. These disabilities can become very isolating for both Loved ones and the caregivers."

This is an important program that Pat Brangs helped Ginny Fisher get started.
I will be contacting Member Performers who may possibly be able to help.
**** If any of you have suggestions, please let me know. ****
