September 2021 Special Events Committee Report to Board
Mark Schaffer - Chair
NJ Uke Fest - August 20-22, 2021
The home version of the NJ Uke Fest was a resounding success.
The concerts, workshops, play-alongs, safety protocols, and overall functioning went wonderfully.
The spirit and feedback was overwhelming grateful, positive and happy.
Workshops were held outdoors.
Rain Friday day and Saturday evening moved concerts indoors.
COVID guidelines were vax required, masks indoors except when performing, masks not required outdoors but outdoor wearers should be respected and distanced from.
The indoors concerts were well-ventilated.
Fantastic articles in MorristownGreen.com both before and after the event.
We repaired our relationship with The Morristown Green Trust and held a mostly rained out play-along on Morristown Green Sunday.
Thanks to:
Kevin, Mark D., Joel, Todd, Larry, Steve, Al, Ro, Donna, Beth, and Frank. And additional thanks to our performers, Jim, Jim, Chris, Chris, Christine and Grace
Acoustic Getaway - Mark Schaffer
As reported,
The Fall Getaway was cancelled because of the financial uncertainty caused by the Delta variation.
The deposit and the cost of renting the entire Stony Point campus required a minimum number of guests, which was impossible to guarantee given the rapidly changing knowledge-scape.
Event Hosting - Jay Wilensky
Given the Covid situation, which seems to be worsening, holding indoor Evenings of Music seems unnecessarily risky. As a stopgap, we've booked the Sugarloaf A area of Lewis Morris Park, Morristown (the site of the July 4 picnic) for an outdoor Afternoon O', 1-5 p.m. on September 19. *
Re: Monday’s Folk Project Online: Jay Wilensky
We've now held 74 consecutive song-circles with no end in sight. Our average attendance continues to be 20-25. Our featured guests during August were Tom Kimmel, Pierce Pettis, Cliff Eberhardt, and Tom Prasado-Rao, and guests are scheduled well into October.
Special Concert with Paxton - Friday April 8, 2022 - Mark Schaffer
Our grant application to Mid Atlantic Arts for $3,000 was approved by them thanks to their generous help and unwavering support.
