Festival Report

We’re doing pretty well with registration for the Spring Festival. So far, we have 122 people registered, including the staff and performers. For the Fall Festival, we had 142 at this point but we had made a big push to encourage people to register early, so the lag is to be expected. So far only a handful of people have signed up for the special dance program, Swingin’ on a Star. This is a little disappointing, but since there is no early bird discount for the dance ticket, there is no incentive for the dancers to sign up early.

I’d like to thank Connie and the rest of the Swingin’ Tern committee for doing a great job of plugging the dance ticket at Swingin’ Tern dances. I think the promotional activities at Swingin’ Tern will be a big factor in selling the dance.

We’ve begun to work on booking the Fall Festival, which will run Oct. 8 – 10. Already booked is Blue Moose and the Unbutton Zippers, a fantastic band of four young musicians who play a wide variety of styles. They were among the musicians voted “Most Wanted” at the 2008 Falcon Ridge Festival. They’ll be opening at the Minstrel on April 23 and headlining there on May 28.

I’d like to notify the Board that after the Fall Festival I will be stepping down as Festival Chair. I do intend to remain on the committee.

Respectfully submitted,
