A disappointing month for May. Average paid attendance for regular shows was 71.7. Factoring in a particularly dismal Open Stage with only 18 paid brought the average down to 58.3 for the month. Carl Croce, in his touring of Open Stages has been handing out free passes to prospective Open Stage performers, which contributed to that low number. The hope is that some of these people will eventually become part of our core group and attend regular shows as well. So far we haven't seen much evidence of that as far as we can tell. We were $33 in the red for May
The attendance for the past 12 months has averaged 84.0 for regular shows, and 71.6, factoring in Open Stages and other special events. Financially, we are $158 in the black over the past 12 months. I'm predicting similar lackluster numbers over the summer, where I've got no real blockbuster shows booked until September.
I attended a meeting with the Minstrel Volunteer Committee looking into better ways of keeping track of our volunteers. Full report on that will come from the Volunteer Committee.
I am scheduled for a phone interview with NJ Public Television's "State Of The Arts" producers on June 25 for a feature on the Minstrel to appear on that show at some later date.
