Sam Edelston reported that he, his daughter Julie, and her guitarist had a delightful mini-tour where they played house concerts in eastern and western Pennsylvania plus a festival gig for Julie and her guitarist in Detroit. Their trip was four fabulous fun-filled days and 1400 fun-filled miles. By coincidence, long-ago Folk Project member Larry Kaufman, who now lives near Detroit, emailed Sam while they were en route. They were able to meet Larry for dessert.
Allan Kugel reported that last year he had 109 trick-or-treaters, this year he had 43.
Mark Schaffer thanked everybody who helped out to make the Volunteer Appreciation Night dinner so successful including Peggy Karr for her work parking attendees and Jean Scully for her efforts in the kitchen. He was especially impressed by the table set up. He said it was a lot of fun working with his friends. He added that FP has a new Instagram account volunteer, Ralph Pedicini, and encouraged everyone to sign up. He also had lunch with Robin and Larry Kaufman. They ate at a luncheonette called Honey's in Fairfield that he highly recommends. He also got to go for a walk with his middle daughter Chelsea, who was due four days ago, but still kept up with grandma and grandpa.
Gary Pratt thanked Elizabeth, Paul and Jeff for agreeing to serve an additional term. He also was happy to report that he got out of the house and into a car to go to the dentist, his first outside trip without Joyce. He added that it actually took him more time to get to the car then he spent at the dentist's.
Jean Scully reported that her son Von and his fiancee Gwen took a wonderful vacation in Spain and the UK. Von previously lived in Spain and got to see a lot of friends. Additionally, Von turned 30. She had forgotten to mention in her last month's GOTO that on their trip to Chicago they visited with their friends Jacquie Manning and Rich Prezioso of Small Potatoes.
Todd Dennison's latest installment in his book "My Life as a Sitcom" included a flight to San Diego. When he landed, he got a message that his mother tested positive for Covid. Concerned that he might have Covid, texted his daughter who has a three month old baby, and altered his plans and just met her curbside at the airport for a half-hour visit. He went back into the airport and flew home. Two days later he was talking to a friend who asked him to play guitar for their gig. He drove an hour and a half to the venue and texted his friend "when are you arriving?". His friend texted back "the gig is tomorrow night". He had to turn around and drive an hour and a half back home. To top it all off, he tripped over some books he left on his basement stairs and fell down the stairs, to top off a "hellish week".
Elizabeth Lachowicz reported that her sprained ankle is healing and she graduated to a smaller brace. She believes she will be able to go to Chicago on November 13th for business and stay for a few weeks. She expects to take a small vacation to Cabo Mexico with her sister.
