Julie has injured her knee, so I will be unable to attend the meeting tonight. I’m doing both Daddy and nursing duty.
The Uke fest is chugging along with about 40 registrants. I have most of the workshop submissions and I will make my selections as soon as I have the last ones. Once we get them up on the website, we should see another surge of registrants.
I have booked The Rumpke Mountain Boys with special guest David Gans for Nov 13th (we’re moving the Open Stage to the 6th). This show covers a couple of different bases. The RMB perform original singer/songwriter, rock, pop and Grateful Dead tunes with Bluegrass instrumentation and styling.
The three most requested styles of music on our SC surveys are Bluegrass, Celtic and Singer/Songwriter so we’re hitting two of those here as well as riding the wave of the Grateful Dead’s 50th Anniversary.
David has a new book on the history of The Grateful dead at the same time, so we plan on having a followup Saturday morning potluck brunch-book signing-jam session at Mark and Robin’s house.
On another subject, I have decided that it is time for me to no longer host the Open Stage. I was placed into that role by an action of the Board at Mark’s suggestion when he was President after the “Minstrel Summit” meetings. Therefore, the Board needs to decide how best to fill that position. I have no suggestions as to a replacement, and I am unsure as to weather I will be able to host next week. If Julie’s knee is in better shape, we’ll probably be at her parents’ cottage in Pa (we’re supposed to go this weekend, but that seems very unlikely).
If there are any questions, I can be reached by phone after 8:40 (Jonathan’s bedtime).
Thanks,
Scooter=
