Getaway February ’20 Report to Board

Preparations are underway for a 2/14/20 launch of Getaway registration. The lineup is particularly strong, with five outside artists - not our typical six.

Last year Special Concerts at The Troubadour were held under the Getaway Committee. The synergy worked seamlessly both financially and organizationally.

The result was better coordination in hiring and combining budgets. Elizabeth will present the case and a motion that keeps last year’s success intact by combining the Getaway and the Special Concerts series under an umbrella committee, the Special Events committee, chaired by Mark & Elizabeth. Thanks to the committee, and especially number crunchers Pat & Elizabeth.

Special Concerts Report.

Bromberg sold out quickly after the email to members: 36 hours. We have verbal agreements for Dar Williams in July 2020 and for Peter Yarrow in February of 2021.

There is an inquiry from a large theatre asking whether the Project can produce a larger-scale folk music concert. The arrangement and numbers work to our benefit. A high-profile would bring members to the Folk Project and new guests to all our venues. More on this in March when particulars are worked out.

I will miss this meeting. Robin and I will be on a music cruise in the Caribbean.
