Not a particularly stellar month for the Minstrel, but at least we came out in the black. The two shows had an average attendance of 66.5 paid, and we made a big $79 in overall profit. The one bright spot was Diane Perry's show with a paid attendance of 70 plus 18 ticks, which shows a much stronger support than we generally get for shows featuring a FP member act. I was disappointed in the 63 paid turnout for Butch Ross, who was the "audience choice" act, based upon his opening act performance last July at the Tom Chapin show. A show of hands indicated about 20 people came as a result of seeing his opening act, out of the 55 who had signed his mailing list back then and indicated they would put the February date on their calendars to come back and see his headliner.
We are still having technical difficulties with Concert Window, and neither the tech staff at C.W. nor MUF's Audio-Video expert seem to know know how to fix. The problem is in making the initial connection to the C.W. server. John Mahon, through a lot of diligent trial and error has arrived at the procedure of exiting all the software and trying again when the streaming signal fails to connect. It sometimes takes as many as 4 or 5 tries to make the connection, and sometimes connects on the first try, with no correlation to any other factor that any of us can see. Once we connect with their server, however, the quality of the video and audio at the viewer's end is excellent. MUF is going to try purchasing a new computer for the system. The current machine is somewhat old, and is equipped with Windows 7, rather than the latest Windows 10. MUF is asking for some financial assistance from the Project towards the purchase. At the March meeting, I will propose that we split the cost 50-50 with MUF. (Estimated total cost of the computer about $550.)
