EVENT HOSTING April, 2021 Report
I’m pleased to report that Event Hosting had another happy and successful month in March.
We continued our unbroken string of Monday-night Stayaway song circles with four very enjoyable ones. Our attendance has increased slightly, with approximately 18-25 players and appreciators participating each week. While a few new people usually check in, and are welcome, we have a core group of at least fifteen people who attend regularly and have come to know one another well; as a result, it truly has become a weekly gathering of friends, under the Project umbrella. We had well-received guest appearances by Gen Evieve and David LaMotte, and a different professional performer has been lined up for each week between the second week of April and the third week of May.
The Project has a paid reservation for the July 4 picnic at Lewis Morris Park, where we held a very successful event in 2019. Particularly with vaccines becoming increasingly available, it seems to me at least possible that we will be able to hold a scaled-down event. I will keep a close eye on CDC reports, and welcome input from Board members.
Finally, a Board member mentioned that “Event Hosting” is not an accurate term for what this Committee now does. I agree. I welcome suggestions as to a new name, and plan to move the Board to change the name in the near future.
Submitted in the spirit of the Project,
Jay Wilensky, Event Hosting chair.
