Getaway September Report to Board
Two Special Concerts at The Troubadour are being run by the Getaway Committee.
- Tom Paxton is Friday, October 4th.
We’ve sold 141 advanced tickets as of September 1st. That’s stronger and earlier sales than a typical sold-out Troubadour concert, so indications are we’ll have a full house.
- Livingston Taylor is November 29th.
Sales are light, which is to be expected three months in advance.
In addition to a great experience for our members and the public,
these Special Concerts at The Troubadour attract lots of first-timers to our site.
Fall Getaway
Typically, the Fall Getaway is 2/3 full by September 1st.
This year we were 95% full by September 1st.
Day passes are now available,
We’ve added a limited number of full weekend passes.
Let friends and members know.
The committee is up and running.
Prep mode goes into high gear after Labor Day.
Volunteers and outside artists are pitching in and responsive.
Entertaining Points of Interest regarding this Getaway
1. Stony Point's auditorium has sight line issues, so we’ll try moving concerts to the large conference room.
It will provide a higher stage and the wider/closer seating we liked at Bernie.
One added advantage is The Boutique will be held in the adjoining room like at Bernie.
2. The Learn It, Sing It workshop this Fall will morph into three Learn It, Record It workshops.
At each, attendees will learn and record two or three songs. These multitrack recordings will be mixed and mastered by a professional engineer after Getaway. Attendees of the Saturday morning Learn It, Record workshop will perform at the Saturday evening concert as usual.
3. The new site’s proximity to Woodstock, New York City, and Bergen County initiated a long range plan to connect with artists in those communities. One early benefit of this new strategy is guitar instructor Grant Gordy, the guitarist in the David Grisman Quintet for six years. Long range we expect this strategy to be highly beneficial.
