Board,
1. Getaway:
Getaway registration opened July 4th. Due to last-minute changes in the performer roster, emails to the mailing list, the Meetup, and the web team went out on July 3rd.
Fall registration is always less robust than Spring due to a vacation mindset until after Labor Day.
Surprisingly, registration is 1/3 full after 48 hours, which is slightly ahead of Spring's. A rush of early registrations does not necessarily relate to a faster and easier sellout. However, there are a couple of first-timers and a couple of infrequent guests registered. That might be a sign of increased interest.
The roster is particularly strong, but, as usual, most attendees will not know the performers in advance.
2. Getaway DAY - September 9, 2017 at the Schaffers
The previously emailed proposal and request for input is included below.
The date coincides with an Evening of Music at Dave & Liz’s.Dave & Liz like smaller EoMs at their home, but think the impact will be minimal, anyway.
Hosting Chair Christine approved the overlap of events on the condition that Dave & Liz were okay with it. President Humphreys loves the idea because
it advances his goal to increase membership.
Purpose:
The committee looked into various ways to advertise Getaway because sales in the Fall are traditionally slower and weaker than Spring. Getaway Day was the best option because it introduces us personally to outsiders, who are generally reticent to spend a couple hundred dollars for three days with strangers.
Plus it’s an introductory sampler of Getaway activities: a workshop, a dinner, a concert, a round robin.
The committee is subsidizing the registration price from the Getaway budget, which is ahead of target. Admission will probably be $28 Our workshop maximums are 25 each. A full house will result in a cost to the Committee of only a few hundred dollars.
Because this event is an outreach for new people, workshop attendance is limited to 30 guests who never attended Getaway and 20 guests who have attended Getaway. Registration will be purely on a first-come, first-served basis. Minstrel 2nd-timer passes will be offered to those who have never attended Minstrel.
The program changed to guitar and songwriting workshops to accommodate the performers. Cliff Eberhardt will lead the guitar and Terre Roach will lead the songwriting. Both will perform. Cliff will hang out like he did at Getaway. My discussions with Terre did not include that topic.
Note: If we add ten or twenty concert-only tickets, they will cost $20. The performers will not permit us to charge less than $20.
We’re looking forward to a wonderful, fun, easy, productive event.

It will feature Cliff Eberhardt and The Mystery Vocal Coach to be Named at a Future Date. Attendees will receive an hour and a half workshop (choice of voice or guitar), one meal, a jam session, and a concert featuring Cliff and The MysteryVocalist.
