Absent were Sooter Ferguson, Jim Gartner, Jim King, Ruth Wolfish, Mark Schaffer, Carl Croce, Elizabeth Lachowicz, George Otto, Pat Rolston, Jean Scully and Rivka Willick.
Treasurer’s Report
Since we did not have a quorum, we could not accept the May Minutes. However, nobody suggested any corrections.
Treasurer’s Report
Eddie reports that our Insurance bill has been lowered by about $1,000 per year due to an adjustment by Travelers, our insurance Company. The Pro Bono folks are checking to see whether or not we need to have 'Worker's Compensation Insurance' for our performers.
BUSINESS ITEMS
None.
REPORTS OF THE STANDING COMMITTEES
Sound
Bob reports that they have repaired the monitor for S’n’T. The case for the S’n’T piano should be in “sound” shape, and the mic stands for Minstrel have been repaired.
Minstrel Booking
Mike reports that, financially, we are still comfortably in the black for the year. He is not planning to raise the admission price anytime soon.
Upcoming highlights to put on your schedule are the Folk Brothers (David Massengill and Jack Hardy) for June 19 and...well, Mike, himself, on July 3.
Staffing
Sandie reports that we have three new volunteers. Ed remarks that the biggest asset the Folk Project possesses is its volunteers. Please see Mark’s essay on volunteering in last month’s Newsletter.
Horses Sing None of It!
Sandie notes that the new DVD burner will pay for itself in postage savings. Rick asked what it would take to increase the number of outlets that HSNOI goes to. Sandie replied that people should request it from their Cable TV providers. The website has information on how to do that.
Swingin’ Tern
Connie says that Saturday is the first dance at the East Hannover location. A big “Thanks!” to Bob, Hartmann, and Joel for all their hard work to make it happen. Doug Heacock has done a great job reaching out to the new community with an insert in the church newsletter and fliers for the Jazzercise classes with free passes to a dance.
Gloria Friedman is offering free rides to the new location from the Chatham railroad station through the Swingin' Tern Facebook page. They are changing the bonus bucks formula to reflect the more favorable rent at the new location. Connie asked for lots of experienced dancers to come and help break in the newcomers.
Special Concerts
Pam reports that the accompaniment workshop with Andy Goessling on May 9th was well attended (13 participants). Overall, the series has involved 38 folk project members and brought in a small profit.
Festival
We have filled out the roster of performers for the Fall '09 festival, adding Dave Kleiner and Liz Pagan as Folk Project performers and Scott Higgs as our caller. The Sunday FP performer slot will be filled by a small chorus group, led by Ken and Pat Rolston. The participants, recruited from festival attendees and led by part captains who have been previously assigned, will rehearse at two workshops during the festival.
GOOD OF THE ORDER
Good of the Order is reported in the newsletter. Talk to Eddie if you’ve had or know about someone who’s had a significant event in their lives recently.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 9:15 PM.
The next meeting will be on July 7th at Mark & Robin Schaffer’s house in Rockaway.
