Webmaster Report – John Lamb

The website was hacked again this month. Thanks to Nancy Kelner's trouble report very soon thereafter, we believe we noticed the problem within an hour of its occurrence and had it fixed within a half hour of her report. We suspect that the attack came through a vulnerability in some old software that was being stored in a section of the site normally accessed only by the web team. We have completely removed that software and any other third-party code we are not currently using, have changed all the system passwords and have reported the intrusion to our web host. We removed all files that had been changed or added by the hacker, and restored any missing files from the most recent backup that we believe was safe. As far as we can tell, this seems to have secured the site. I would like to thank Allan in particular for his yeoman work on this. Otherwise, the site is cranking along as it was designed, with minor tweaks to a few pages. As always, thanks to Lori, Allan and Charles for all that they do. Please send questions, comments and suggestions to webmaster@folkproject.org.

Report From “The Chair” – Paul Fisher

Bill Nutt did great articles this month on Bob Malone and Geoff Muldaur, which appeared on the Daily Record website on the days of the concert.

Morristown Green gave a preview of the Oct 2 Stu Fuchs concert.

The Publicity Committee will be taking up George's Tech Committee recommendations on social media this month.

Paul has straightened things out with the Morris Tourism ad. We will eventually be billed but for now the next step will be the new ad copy. This will get done this month.

Morris Tourism has repeated their request for audience and performer photos from Folk Project events for their website. Who should we contact about this? The request mentions “Performers, performers with a bit of audience and anything else that you think would best represent your organization and talent.
