The Swingin' Tern report for June
We're preparing for our free July 17 re-opening dance. In order to attend
the dance, performers and dancers must be vaccinated. Any dancer who
cannot present a vaccination card will be offered a free pass to another
dance. At least through August and probably beyond, all attendees will be
required to be fully vaccinated.
About thirty people have submitted vaccine cards. More cards will arrive
in the next ten days and we will accept cards at the door. We are putting
people on a list we will use for future dances and for notification if
someone at the dance reports becoming infected. So far everyone has wanted
to be on that list.
We have recently visited the venue at the parish house twice, for a
committee meeting and to prepare for the coming dance. We've purchased
more fans -- not just because of the virus, but also because it's July and
hot!
We've received a generous donation from Lin Goetz. We will also encourage
dancer contributions to ST/FP in a low-pressure way. Lin's contribution
enables us to offer free admission, and also partly motivated by that
contribution, Jon Justin is purchasing upgraded stage monitors and a much
better equipment-transportation cart.
We have a good relationship with the church and have been in regular
contact with them over the last sixteen months. Also during that time,
several dancers have made several contributions.
Five bucks says we'll have unusually high attendance for a hot summer
night, and from an unusually broad area. Anyone dumb enough to take that
bet will see a fiver fly into our donation jar.
