Our April dances were successful. On April 7 we had 74 dancers and a positive cash flow of $205. On April 21 we had 57 dancers and a positive case flow of $80. While the $80 falls short of our $125 rent, the NEFFA weekend drew away many of our regular dancers. We offered a 50%-off deal to any experienced dancer/newcomer combination, something we plan to do more in the future.
A Swingin' Tern committee was held before our April 21 dance. The primary goal was to make plans to expand and promote our dance. We are known as a beginner-friendly dance, and we will have 50%-off newcomer promotions and continue our free-pass-for-new-dancers policy. We also seek to become better known as a place for experienced dancers to have special afternoons and evenings.
As a first measure, Dan Black has had discussions with Phase X about having a techno contra dance at Swingin' Tern. ST's committee all agreed to the terms offered by Phase X, which has drawn many younger dancers to other dances. Dan is trying to book them twice over the next year.
We have also acquired our own web address: swingintern.org. Now anyone who goes to swingintern.org is automatically redirected to the main Swingin' Tern page on FP's website.
We will keep you informed as our other plans come to fruition.
