SOUND REINFORCEMENT

As a report for this month:

Minstrel sound system:

Functioning as intended with no negative reports from the volunteers this month. Repairs for April consisted of one of the short mic stands where the threads became stripped at the boom pivot support. We had one that fit in the mic-stand boneyard at The Sanctuary. It was back in service in 48 hours.

Festival Sound:

Festival staff is evolving; Bob Safranek is firm, Greg More is on board, and Andrew Dunn may be needed elsewhere on the Schafer team but we'll welcome him if he's available. Pam Robinson has been contacting performers and workshop leaders about sound needs and adding that data to those already contacted. We'll have at least two complete systems available in addition to the main stage.

Bill Henderson is enthusiastically offering transporation of the equipment, for which we're grateful.

Sound recruitment

The newsletter story looking for those interested in live sound has so far brought two interested people. We're working with them as a small group.

Work Book

I've begun pecking away at a little primer to hand out to sound trainees and to keep with the board. Will circulate drafts when ready.

Last report follow up:

Sound System loaner: We're still researching that. The challenge is weight and quality. Anything light weight seems to be exactly that. Research continues.

Front desk ears:

Research is continuing.

MUF Improvements:

There have been no meetings between us since the last report, but price research on the various options has been ongoing.

Thanks to work obligations this week I'll have to miss the May meeting with many regrets.

Respectfully submitted,

Mike Del Vecchio
