We learned that volunteers must live in the Cablevision service area to be eligible to take the required training. The service area includes the following towns: Allamuchy, Boonton Town, Boonton Township, Chatham, Denville, Dover, East Hanover, Florham Park, Hanover, Hopatcong, Jefferson, Madison, Mine Hill, Montville, Morris Township, Morris Plains, Morristown, Mt. Arlington, Mountain Lakes, Mt. Olive, Netcong, Parsippany Troy-Hills, Picatinny, Randolph, Rockaway Borough, Rockaway Township, Roxbury, Stanhope, Victory Gardens, Wharton.
None of our current applicants interested in volunteering qualify. Sandie is working on finessing our way around the rule to get some of those people trained. Meanwhile I have requested George to run an annoucement in the newsletter requesting help from any volunteers with addresses in those towns.
We seem to be getting by with our short list of very dedicated volunteers: Sandie, Matt and Shannon Reilly, Ken Brody, Tommy Mahoney, Larry Flanagan, Mike Mitsch and occasionally Frank Capra. It takes 6 volunteers to fully staff the studio though we have been know to get by with fewer.
We taped four very fine shows in May:
592) 5/5/14 Arlon Bennett - Daddy, Eagle Scout, baseball connoisseur, and all-around Renaissance guy with Tuscan roots, is an Americana songsmith writing songs that recall Harry Chapin and vintage James Taylor, but with an eloquence, honesty, and sense of humor all his own. A home-made guitarist with a self-effacing style, he has a gift of storytelling from the heart that reveals the gold nuggets in the river of everyday life. http://www.arlonbennett.com
593) 5/5/14 Brooks Williams - Ranked one of the Top 100 Acoustic Guitarists, this singer-songwriter writes groove-laden songs and delivers them with an easy-going vocal style and monstrous guitar chops. Walking the line between blues and Americana, Williams has worked stages worldwide for over 25 years, amassing a staggering back-catalogue of songs, recordings and tales. With nearly 20 CDs to his name – and more on the way – this Statesboro Georgia native is, according to americanaUK, “impossible not to like." www.brookswilliams.com
595) 5/28/14 Carl Kent & His One-Man Country Rhythm Band - local country singer-songwriter with good songs in a very traditional style
596) 5/28/14 Spuyten Duyvil - (pronounced: "Spite + n Dive + l") Hailing from the Hudson Valley, soaring vocals, traditional jug band energy, slide guitar, incendiary fiddle and Chicago-style blues harp propel the listener on a barn-burning romp through the last 100 years of American Roots music. www.spuytenduyvilmusic.com

In other words, he has the ability to create music straight from the soul, with naked honesty. http://besidesdaniel.com
