A pretty slow month for Minstrel in August. No real block-buster acts, and we averaged only 69 paid for the two regular shows. 56.3 counting the Open Stage. We showed a $34 profit for the month. Our average paid attendance for the past 12 months has been 87.6 for regular shows and 74.3 for all shows, pretty much unchanged for the past couple of months. Our net profit for the past 12 months was a healthy $5123 (or $3263 if you exclude the Paxton show.)
Speaking of Open Stage, Scooter has retired as our default Open Stage host, and Christine DeLeon ran that event in August. After her experience with the first one, she has decided to step in as Scooter's permanent replacement. In the event she can't make one, Mitch Radler has agreed to give it a try as her sub.
Oh, and one more thing: I'm now making the attached chart showing the attendance of the past year in Excel, which allows me to make it a little more readable.
New Bookings in August
Oct 2: Andy Koenig & Friends opening for Stuart Fuchs
Oct 16: Diane Perry & Friends, opening for Pat Donohue. And as part of that show, Diane will be joining Pat for some impromptu jamming. Anybody who was a fly on the wall for the session Pat and Diane held after the close of the Spring Getaway will have that one graven in stone on their calendars.
Dec. 4: Chorus Song Night will be hosted by Carolanne Solebello (of Red Molly and No Fuss & Feathers), Ken Galipeau, Mitch Radler, and myself
Jan. 15: Martin Grosswendt & Susanne Salem-Schatz: veteran ragtime/blues guitarist & jazz singer.
Highlights for September
If August was light on block-busters, September will be almost nothing but!
Sept 18: 70s ragtime & blues icon Geoff Muldaur
Sept 25: Tom Chapin
And, while he doesn't have the name recognition of the other September powerhouses, Bob Malone has the chops and the drive to stay right with them.
