August was a busy month for Electronic Communications:
I sent out a notice to everyone whose membership expired in July 2012 reminding them to renew. I also sent out a message to everyone with memberships expiring in Aug., Sept. and Oct to remind them that their membership will be expiring soon. I received feedback from Scott Ross that some folks felt this was too far in advance for a reminder, so we will re-examine the criteria we are using to send emails going forward.
The renewal reminders were sent to everyone regardless of whether they get the paper or electronic newsletter. Scott advised me that perhaps we should only be sending reminders to those who get the e-newsletter, since those who receive the paper newsletters get a stamp on their newsletter to remind them. I am willing to send the reminder to only e-newsletter recipients, as long as the list of expiring memberships includes that information.
I sent the board a comprehensive list of everyone currently included in the Fullboard email list. I emailed everyone on the list who is not on the Board and asked them if they wished to continue receiving these emails. Everyone wanted to remain on the list. I'd like to share a comment from Chris Riemer with you as I thought it was an excellent justification for keeping non-Board members on the list:
I think I may finally have entered a period of real retirement, after so
many years. But I think I'd be more likely to re-up (if needed) if I felt
somewhat connected to board activities. So please let me remain among the
alumni.
I sent out an email to all active members alerting them to an error in the newsletter regarding the date for the Sept. evening of music.
After many months of work and consultation with a pro bono attorney, we have completed the Folk Project Privacy Policy. I sent it out to the Fullboard list several weeks ago for review and we will be discussing it at the Board meeting tomorrow night.
