On December 18, 2015 Special Concerts presented a Holiday Benefit Concert on behalf of The Morristown Unitarian Fellowship.
The Concert was a great success artistically, musically and financially. The Concert Hall and Terrace Room looked beautiful, thanks to Bob Cole for decorations. The “photo booth” for holiday photos was great fun for the attendees, thanks to Barrett and Amy Wilson for making it happen. The pre-concert carols and the main concert were a hit. Lots of great holiday and seasonal cheer. Thanks to Ken, Bob, Jim, Andy, Sam, Mike & Dan, Christine, Yolanda, JoAnne and the scores of special guests. Thanks to Bill Henderson for recording the entire show as mementos for staff and performers. And a Very Special thanks to all the volunteers who made the event the hit it was: Mike D. Bob S, Bill D., Deborah, Mike A, Cathy, Elizabeth, Bob C., Barb M., Bill H.,Barrett and Amy. We had 91 paid admissions, 16 performers and 13 volunteers for a total of 120 attendees at the event.
Kitchen Income of $97 covered most of the $133 in expenses. A total of $1,594 was collected. $36 was deducted for expenses, making the FP net neutral. $1,558 was presented to The Fellowship. The Fellowship was very appreciative of our efforts on their behalf.
On February 19th Special Concerts will present Comas. This event was booked by the former SC chair and he was planning on presenting it. As of December 10th publicity for the event had not started. On December 10th, the former SC chair, in a conversation with Mike A about other matters, asked Mike to take Point on the event. Mike agreed if Pam was willing to oversee his efforts.
Since December 10, Mike and Pam (with the assistance of several other FP members) have rushed the creation a flyer/poster, and newsletter blurb, a press release, a CC landing page and payment page, have gotten the event listed on the Minstrel Page and a carosel banner. So right now it is full steam ahead to sell tickets for the event.
Current financials for this event are:
performer Guarantee: $1,000.
bonus of 70% of net profits.
Tickets: $20.
Assuming that we will need the Terrace Room, and additional FP expenses (above rent) of approx $450 (which includes $250 toward Ins/G&A) FP exposure for the concert is approx. $1,800. This would put breakeven at approx 92 ticket sales. If this concert sells 180 tickets the FP will net over $500.
I am finalizing a contract to bring Calan back on Sept 23rd. (this band sold out a SC concert in July 2015.)
Performer Guarantee: $1000 guarantee with an 80% split of net profits. Tickets: $15/$20.
Assuming that we will need the Terrace Room, and additional FP expenses (above rent) of approx $450 (which includes $250 toward Ins/G&A) FP exposure for the concert is approx. $1,800. Using only the advance ticket pricing, breakeven is 126 ticket sales.
